Excerpt:
Q: "What do you think about open source in GIS?"
A: "I am a very strong advocate of open source, in GIS and in general. The open source movement is significant for a variety of reasons. Our group implements open source solutions, as well as hybrid (open/closed) and proprietary solutions. In the last few years open source has been particularly successfull and has driven the development of web GIS platforms, while proprietary vendors have been playing catch-up."
